I have worked within the school business community for my entire 35-year career, both as a practicing business administrator and as a software developer and service provider. Initially working as a school finance specialist I helped found a service to assist school districts statewide in projecting revenue under New York’s complex array of school funding formulas and the many alternative funding schemes proposed by the legislature and various advocacy groups. Under my leadership, this service grew to serve over 500 of New York’s 700 school districts through the BOCES, which is similar to an Educational Service Commission (ESC) in New Jersey. I have logged over 26 years in public administration in New Jersey, serving as a school business administrator and assistant superintendent in four New Jersey school districts including the Millburn Township Public Schools and Mayor of the Borough of Roselle Park for four years. A major milestone of my school business administration career was receiving a AAA rating from Standard and Poor’s, being one of only five schools in the nation to achieve this honor at that time. My 22-year tenure with Great Neck Schools provided me an enormous amount of experience and expertise: Supervised and worked at converting data for payroll, HR, purchasing, accounting and student information systems; created systems that augmented district systems, such as custom reporting systems linked to major system datasets; wrote reports using popular report writing software; conducted on going staff development courses in office applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Windows; trained others in WinCap Basics, WinCap Reports, WinCap Enhanced Reporting and Infinite Campus (student information system) Reporting.
